IECHE: 2014

 Overview | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 International Exposition and Conference on Higher Education

The International Exposition and Conference on Higher Education (IECHE) is held annually in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Conference organizers invited a select group of international, and Saudi, higher education institutions. The conference provides an avenue for Saudi high school and university students interested to learn about their options to study both at home and abroad. It is also an opportunity for education entities to exchange ideas and forge working relationships. IECHE is open to the public, and at times has hosted over 325,000 visitors throughout the week.

The UT Global Initiative for Education and Leadership (UTGI) sent a delegation to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the International Exposition and Conference on Higher Education (IECHE) in April 2014.  The organization’s third consecutive visit to the annual event was a success, with many opportunities to discuss future collaborations.

Conference organizers invited a select group of 490 institutions of higher education from 36 countries, including 52 Saudi Arabian schools, to this year’s event. The conference provides an avenue for Saudi high school and university students interested to learn about their options to study both at home and abroad. It is also an opportunity for education entities to exchange ideas and forge working relationships. IECHE is open to the public, and hosted more than 325,000 visitors throughout the week.

Representatives from the International Office joined UTGI’s delegation at the exposition to answer questions about UT’s study abroad programs and UTGI’s International Student Summer Enhancement Program (ISSEP). The delegates attended a reception hosted by the United States Embassy at the Quincy House with Deputy Chief of Mission Timothy A. Lenderking.

During the conference, UTGI gave a series of presentations on success in advising and higher education administration. Dr. Richard Flores’ workshop, “Habits of Effective Leadership in Higher Education,” focused on management techniques for university administrators. Mr. Carlos Eric Bowles spoke regarding his award-winning process in “Five Strategic Academic Advising Methods.” In addition, Flores and Bowles gave a joint workshop, titled “How Can International Students Excel in U.S. Higher Education?”

UTGI discussed future projects with faculty members from esteemed local institutions of higher learning including the University of Ha’il, Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University, Dar Al-Hekma College, and Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. They also visited representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment.
