The UT Global Initiative for Education and Leadership (UTGI) in the College of Liberal Arts is seeking a student assistant to serve as a Social Media Intern.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented undergraduate student interested in thinking outside of the box. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn new skillsets, maintain a positive attitude, and build rapport in the professional environment. Our office requires someone who can work independently, take constructive criticism, and strategically ask questions. Since this position relies heavily on using a computer, it is vital that the candidate be comfortable and proficient using an OSX system running Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and be comfortable using social media platforms (facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest, and/or reddit) with consideration of professional online etiquette. Strong writing skills and familiarity with WordPress are preferred.
Hours and Rate
The position is open to undergraduate students enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin and preference is given to students with a Work Study award. The position is paid hourly, starting at $9/hour. The position will be 10 to 12 hours/week and begins as early as September 1, 2017.
As a student assistant, your duties will include:
- Developing web content, handouts, presentations, and infographics;
- Maintaining web sites in WordPress;
- Posting to UTGI social media accounts;
- Helping UTGI staff with program and event coordination;
- Research and data collection projects; and
- Administrative duties such as data entry, event promotion and publicity work, and campus deliveries.
